Project Cargo / Breakbulk
When your products are oversized—by weight, size, or quantity, FML provides you with specialised, individualised supply chain solutions.
The general phrase used to characterise large shipments is project cargo, which is also referred to as out-of-gauge (OOG) or heavy lift. These can include shipments that cannot fit into a typical container, that must be loaded one at a time, or that are essential to a project, such as heavy machinery.
Project logistics solutions that are individualised and specialised are necessary for the safe transportation of a variety of project cargo kinds. Many considerations, such as whether the shipment needs additional equipment like refrigeration, open-top containers, RO-RO (Roll-On, Roll-Off), Hazardous Goods solutions, and others, are the different kinds of Project Cargo services.
FML also provides Breakbulk Cargo or Break Bulk Cargo, which are goods that are loaded and transported separately. They are also referred to as “non-containerised loads” because they can not be loaded into a typical container. They are frequently disassembled for transit and then put back together again after delivery. Breakbulk cargo can be anything from generators to wind turbine blades to construction machinery.
At FML, we understand the fact that because each project cargo and breakbulk shipment is unique, both the origin and the destination require considerable familiarity and in-depth understanding. Project cargo logistics are extremely complicated, thus our freight forwarding specialists collaborate with you to develop individualised solutions by consulting with your teams and suppliers. This includes assistance with the planning, coordinating, implementing, and managing of additional logistical needs for breakbulk and project cargo, such as paperwork, customs clearance, and even setting up local traffic control if necessary.
